Sneaky, Snacky Fun With The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel

If you have younger children to shop for this holiday season, The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel is a super fun way to mix up the same boring old gifts.  With a super fun lift-the-flap book and a board game full of excitement, there are a couple great gifts that you can give with the super cute Sneaky Snacky Squirrel.

The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel Game is a hit for players both young and old.  In this game you’ll have to help all your forest friends before winter hits!  Your forest friends are hungry and they need your help!  Spin the spinner, squeeze the matching colored acorn with your Squirrel Squeezer, and place it into your log . Be the first to fill your log with delicious acorns and you win!   But be careful!  One gust of the wind and you could lose all your acorns and have to start all over again!  You’ll also have the chance to steal acorns from other players but be on guard because they can steal from your log too!

With the Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel game, it’s not just all fun and games…your little ones are learning at the same time too!  The Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel game helps children:

  • Reinforce color learning
  • Develop strategic thinking, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and pre-handwriting skills
  • Work on social skills and turn-taking
  • Practice memory and attention skills
  • Learn simple math skills at an early age

Inside your Sneaky Snacky Squirrel Game box, you’ll find:

  • 1 Squirrel Squeezer
  • 20 colored acorns
  • 1 game spinner
  • 4 logs
  • 1 game board (which also doubles as packaging!)

If you’re looking for more Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel fun, you have to check out the SneakySnacky Squirrel Book.  The SneakySnacky Squirrel Book is a new book (just released in September 2017) based on the super fun, best-selling board game of the same name.

Winter is just around the corner, and the Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel has stored all of his acorns away.  The problem is, he hid them so well that now he can’t remember where they are!   With this fun book, little ones will lift the numerous flaps to find all of the squirrels acorns throughout the story.  There are extra flaps with other hidden items which make great ways to bring up other topics with little ones such as “where does this item belong?” “what color is this item?” or “who do you think hid this here?”.

The recommended ages for these items are 3-5 years, but my daughter is 6 and she still absolutely loved the Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel book and game as well.  If you’ve got little ones to shop for this holiday season, you definitely need to check out the Sneaky, Snacky Squirrel!

9 Scholarships To Apply For Today

Furthering your education can be a FABULOUS thing!  When I went to college I was really excited to gain some higher knowledge and further myself in my career.  I got a few grants and a few small scholarships however at the end of just 2 years, I was left with a student loan debt of $23,000…and I’m still paying on it 10 years later.  The advice that I give everyone going into college is, apply for as many scholarships as you can!  Even the small ones.  Every little bit helps and trust me, in the long run you’ll be very happy with all scholarships, big and small.  Below you’ll find some fabulous scholarships that you really need to apply for, TODAY:

  1. The Groza Learning Center Education Scholarship – this scholarship was created to help students interested in higher education reach their goal of attending college or university. Each year a theme will be chosen and students will have the chance to respond in a short essay. This year, applicants will be asked to explain what ‘redemption’ means to them and how it has played a role in their lives and in their interactions with others. Often times, when students come to Groza that is exactly what they are seeking- a turnaround with a challenging academic skill, concept, class, or a standardized test. After all, doesn’t everyone love a good comeback story? A committee will select a winner by the end of November, 2017. One winner will be selected and receive $1000 towards higher education.  Click Groza’s link above for full eligibility details.
  2. The Rocco Basile Giving Scholarship for Documentary Photography – Rocco Basile is pleased to announce the first Rocco Basile Giving Documentary Photography Scholarship. Whistlefritz Spanish for Kids Ultimate Collection #Review

logo

Whistlefritz was born out of a mom’s passion to teach her children Spanish.  I think we can all agree that a second language gives people a great advantage in all different situations in life and what better way to give your kids the early advantage than to teach them to be fluent in a second language?  Motivated by research showing that early childhood was the best time to learn a language, the Whistlefritz creator set out on a mission to assemble high-quality teaching materials for her children.  When she wasn’t able to find what she was looking for, she created a line of engaging, playful, live-action immersion programs for her own children and kids everywhere (just like yours and mine!).

SpanishDVD.jpg

I had the pleasure of receiving the Whistlefritz Spanish for Kids Ultimate Collection to try out with my children and so far we are very thrilled with the program.  There are 5 DVDs and 3 CDs included in the Spanish for Kids Ultimate Collection.  The included DVDs are: Los Animales (Animals), Vamos a Jugar (Let’s Play), Adentro y Afuera (Inside and Out), Las Estaciones (The Seasons), and La Fiesta de Fritzi (Fritzi’s Party).  The included CDs are: A Bailar! Let’s Dance!, Cha, Cha, Cha Spanish Learning Songs, and Sabor!

The principal components of Whistlefritz philosophy are language immersion and fun.  Here’s what makes Whistlefritz programs unique:

  • Language Immersion: Programs teach children a second language using language immersion, the method recommended by early language acquisition experts.
  • Live Native Speakers: Programs feature live, native-speaking adults and children.
  • Natural language: Programs are more than just video flashcards (just using one word out of context).  Native speakers speak in complete sentences, so that children learn the cadence and structure of the language as well as individual words.  Just like children and their native first language.
  • Fun: Programs include award-winning music, live action, animation, and colorful backgrounds.  Programs not only teach children vocabulary, they give children reason to use it-to solve a riddle, to help find Fritzi the mouse, or to figure out the next move in a dance.
  • Multi-Sensory Approach: Research has shown that the more senses involved in the learning process, the better children recall information.  Activities in the series engage all senses in the learning process and appeal to children of different learning styles.

SpanishDVD3.jpg

After watching much of the Whistlefritz collection with my kids and listening to some of the music, I have high hopes that this will help get my kids on the road to being fluently bilingual.  The suggested age is 1-7, but I can tell you that my experience is it even works for older children than that.  My daughter is 5 and is captivated by the program, but what surprised me was my sons.  My sons are 11 and 13, and willingly shut off video games to come watch with us because they want to learn Spanish too!  This program has won over 60 awards and it’s easy to see why.  I can’t wait to update this post after we’ve been using the program for a little while longer so stay tuned for an update in the near future!

Learning Box Preschool Week 14 #Review

LearningBoxPreschool

Week 14 with Learning Box Preschool was fun as always!  Jade and I had a blast discovering new things and making fun yet educational crafts.

Monday:

MondayCollage1.jpg

Monday was Halloween and we had so much fun with Halloween themed activities.  Jade absolutely loved having her foot painted and using the print to make a spooky ghost.

MondayCollage2.jpg

Jade did a great job following instructions and listening to clues to put the right people in the right spots.  What a smart little girl!

MondayCollage3.jpg

Being safe on Halloween is rule #1!  Jade and I practiced trick-or-treating to get ready for the evening so we could have a fun, safe time.

Tuesday:

TuesdayCollage1.jpg

Tuesday was a fun day of introducing our new posters to go along with our new theme for November.  We added a new number, 4, and Jade did a great job putting the numbers in their correct spots.

TuesdayCollage2.jpg

Every month we make a new name tag to go along with our theme.  Jade really used her imagination when coloring her turkey!

Wednesday:

WednesdayCollage1.jpg

Learning new letters is always fun, especially when it’s ‘L’ for ‘ladybug’!

WednesdayCollage2.jpg

Jade got to practice writing her name all by herself and as you can tell from the picture, she was SO happy when she was able to do it better than ever.  She drew a fabulous picture of herself to go along with her name 🙂 .

WednesdayCollage3.jpg

We’re learning all about the 5 senses, and after learning a bit about sight, Jade decorated some glasses and glued them onto her little print-out character.

Thursday:

We had a really great opportunity to be visitors at Jade’s older brother’s school on Friday, so we combined Thursday and Friday into one day so we didn’t fall behind 🙂

ThursdayCollage1.jpg

The letter ‘a’ can also be a word, and Jade is doing a great job learning all about the letter ‘a’ as a word.

ThursdayCollage2.jpg

Using your sight is fun, but it’s even MORE fun when you get to decorate and make your own telescope.

ThursdayCollage3.jpg

Making a rainbow square was one of Jade’s favorite things this week.  She loves rainbows!

ThursdayCollage4.jpg

A sense of hearing is also so important!  Jade had fun shaking containers and using just her hearing to try and figure out what was inside.

Give the Gift of Astonishing Imagination With WowWee #Review

wowweelogo.jpg

WowWee designs, develops, markets, and distributes innovative robotic toys and consumer entertainment products.  Astonishing imagination combined with superior design and construction sets WowWee apart from its competitors.

20161102_195047.jpg

Coji is a great way to teach your child to program with a language they already know…EMOJIS!  My 5 year old daughter is in love with all of the different emoji symbols and was really excited to see that she can make Coji learn and move using silly emojis.  Download the Coji app on virtually any device and your child is ready to play and learn.  Coji will challenge his playmates with different skill-testing games. Coji helps encourage critical thinking with his variety of games and small problems that need solving.  In one game, your child will use emoji code to safely direct Coji’s digital avatar through a maze – avoiding obstacles along the way.  In another, Coji becomes a physical controller for the digital world.  There is really no limit to what your child can do with Coji.

Today’s kids love using smartphones and tablets, and will have fun using the Coji app on their smart device to control Coji.  My kids are just like any other and love their screen time, but I don’t like them spending too much time on their devices…it’s so important to move your body and play!  When screen time is over, your child can also interact directly with Coji which is something that my daughter really enjoyed.  This adorable robot reacts to physical stimulation such as tilting and shaking.  Your child will ‘LOL’ as Coji steals their ‘heart’ with pre-programmed responses.

20161102_195334.jpg

WowWee makes more than just robots…there’s also a nice assortment of lifestyle products as well!  Elektrokideez are fun new collectable figures from WowWee.  Each character is styled and dressed in their favorite music genres. Collect and trade all 48 styles, put together a mini poster with the included stickers, or you can even use them as a pencil topper.  Take a little bit of fun and inspiration with you wherever you go with this cute little Elektrokideez.

Give the gift of astonishing imagination this holiday season with WowWee.

Thursday was a day that Jade really enjoyed!  She got to change up a rectangle and see how many different things a simple shape can become.

Mail carriers have an important job!  They deliver the letters that we write to the ones we love.  Jade had me write out a letter to her friends Maddy and Mackenzy and she loved putting it in an envelope and out in the mailbox.

Mail trucks are important for our mail carriers.  They help the mail carriers deliver their mail on time so everyone can get the letters that are on their way.

Friday:

Keeping with our sight word, see, Jade got to make a fun book using the word ‘see’ and our community helpers theme.

Learning the difference between rectangles and cylinders can be kinda tough, but Jade did a great job putting each item in the correct category.

Crossing guards make sure we all stay safe when we cross the street.  Jade had a lot of fun making a stop sign so she can pretend to be a crossing guard too.

Next week should be tons of fun, I hope you all stick around to see what fun new things we get to do.
