Blue Apron Review

Blue Apron is on a mission to change the way we cook.  The best tasting meals are the ones prepared with the freshest of ingredients, and Blue Apron has made that more simple than ever.  There are a few different options that you can sign up for depending on how many people you will be feeding.  No matter what meal size you choose, you will find a box filled with amazingly fresh ingredients accompanied with recipes to make meals you never imagined you would be making.

I was so excited to see all of these fresh, vibrant, colorful ingredients when I opened my box.  Just smelling the fresh produce as I was unpacking it was enough to make my stomach growl. The meals I received were: Spicy Korean Chicken Wings with Rice Cakes and Baby Bok Choy, Catfish Piccata and Fresh Fettuccine with Verjus Blanc and Spinach, and Sumac-Spiced Steak and Honeynut Squash with Pickled Onioins and Apple-Walnut Salad.

BlueApron4 BlueApron5

The first thing I made were the Spicy Korean Chicken Wings with Rice Cakes and Baby Bok Choy.  I have to admit, I never in a million years pictured myself cooking with rice cakes, bok choy, or gochujang simply because I didn’t know how to use them.  I’m so glad Blue Apron sends such unique and different foods and teaches you how to use them.  I was pushed outside my comfort level and am SO glad I was.  The Spicy Korean Chicken Wings are by far the best thing I have ever tasted!

BlueApron3 BlueApron6

The Catfish Piccata and Fresh Fettuccine was a pleasant surprise.  I typically don’t like seafood unless it’s salmon, but this recipe made me see catfish in a whole new light.  The catfish was delicious and tasted extremely fresh.  The fresh fettuccine was the best pasta I’ve ever eaten…no more dry pasta for me!  All of the ingredients combined together made a dish that was spectacular.

BlueApron2 BlueApron7

Last, but most certainly not least, the Sumac-Spiced Steak and Honeynut Squash.  I would really love to meet the genius that put this meal together.  The way that all of these ingredients play off of each other and enhance the flavors of the whole dish is brilliant.  The apple-walnut salad with crumbled feta cheese was far better than I expected it would be, but I guess I should’ve expected that by now with Blue Apron.

I will say, the meals are a little time consuming to prepare, but they are every bit worth the time.  I’m a busy mom of 3, and I would gladly take the time out of my day to prepare anything Blue Apron could come up with.  I really love how the recipe cards come with the food.  After you’ve been introduced to new things, if you find you like them, now you have the recipe to guide you through making these dishes of perfection again and again.

For my readers who are interested in trying Blue Apron, my first 50 readers will get 2 meals free in their first box by clicking here, and clicking the orange “redeem offer” button 🙂

Love With Food Subscription Box Review

Love With Food is one of my favorite subscription boxes available. Subscriptions start at $10 a month, and for each box sold, a meal is donated to a hungry child. So while you’re treating yourself to new and unique snacks, you’re also helping out someone else in return…what could be better?

Love With Food Box (1)

I am in love with the box I got! You can see there were many goodies packed into my little box. Good things come in small packages 🙂

Love With Food Box (2)

Up first is the Crave Canyon popcorn. The flavor is Aged White Cheddar & Hatch Green Chile. Oh. My. God. This stuff was amazing! It tied for favorite item of the box. I love the flavor, it’s so delicious I ate the whole bag in one sitting :/ . At least the calories are low enough that I didn’t feel too guilty.

Love With Food Box (3)

Sensible Foods Crunch Dried Fruit is actually something that I’ve had before and I was happy to see it in my box. I got the Orchard Blend which is super yummy.

Love With Food Box (4)

Fior di Frutta spread was amazing on a waffle 🙂 . Top with a dab of whipped cream, delicious!

Love With Food Box (5)

The Meli Honey Waffle was really good, just the packaging was in a foreign language and couldn’t decipher the nutrition info. Tasty product, but I’d love to know the nutrition facts of what I’m eating.

Love With Food Box (6)

Sahale Snacks Glazed Almonds were the other item in the box that tied for my favorite item. They were absolutely delicious and I couldn’t get enough. The ingredients are perfectly blended, and you’re going to want more, so if you guy these…buy a lot!

Love With Food Box (7)

The Vintage Bee Chocolate Mint honey stick was pretty delicious in some tea! I used it with the tea I also received in my Love With Food box and it was a perfect pairing with a delicious flavor twist on the tea.

Love With Food Box (8)

The gluten-free Bumble Bar was far better than I expected it to be. I love the little energy kick it gave me. I was able to power through the packing I was dreading terribly.

Love With Food Box (9)

The Wild Hibiscus Tea as I mentioned before was really good. I loved it paired with flavored honey for a natural flavor boost, and my own unique twist 🙂 .

Love With Food did it again, they made me fall in love with everything in my box, and I will be buying more 🙂

September MISTOBOX Subscription Box Review

misto box logo

MISTOBOX is a monthly subscription box that is perfect for any coffee lover. There are 2 different plans you can choose from: $19 a month and you’ll get 4 – 1.7 oz bags of coffee, or $30 a month for 4 – 3.4 oz bags of coffee. Each month there are 4 new coffees that are specially chosen from the country’s best roasters.

The box is really pretty! I couldn’t wait to get it open!

box open
And the anticipation builds! LOL

all 2
So…here they are! Once I opened my pretty box I found 4 bags of coffee just waiting to be ground and brewed.

I received:
Ethiopia Aricha from Ristretto Roasters in Portland, Oregon.
El Salvador Malacara B from Barefoot Coffee Roasters in San Jose, California.
Nicaragua Finca La Amistad from Panter Coffee in Miami, Florida
Colombia La Cristalina from Crema in Nashville Tennessee

All of the coffees were really delicious! They release such a beautiful aroma when the beans are ground and brewed. I love MISTOBOX for turning me on to coffees I didn’t even know were out there. If you’re a coffee lover like myself, this is a subscription box you can’t pass up.

Here’s how the value of the box breaks down:
Ethiopia Aricha – $2.55
El Salvador Malacara B – $2.55
Nicaragua Finca La Amistad – $2.98
Colombia La Cristalina – $2.27
Total Value – $10.35, I received the $19 per month box.

So…obviously not a money maker box, but I think it’s well worth it. The coffee was delicious and you get to experience a little bit of heaven from all over the country.

Bestowed Subscription Box Review

bestowed logo

Bestowed is a monthly subscription box that introduces you to new and exciting foods, snacks and beverages that are all healthy, and much better for you than most products out there. All of the items featured in Bestowed’s monthly boxes are hand picked from celebrity nutritionalist, Heather Bauer. You can either buy the box month-to-month, or pay for it annualy. The monthly cost is $19 a month, or an annual price of $209. If you go with the annual plan, that breaks down to $17.42 a month, so there’s an additional savings of $18.96!

Here is a look at the August box that I received. It’s hard to see everything in one shot so I have multiple photos below.

The Lundberg Rice Chips were really good. A great alternative to many other unhealthy snack options, and I even got my 23 month old daughter to like them. The Reboot came just in time…I got my first flu of the year. It was really nice to have around and I think helped me recover a bit faster than I would have without it.

The Wasabi Sea Snax were really delicious. They had a really nice kick to them without being too much. The Cascadian Farms granola bar was probably my favorite thing in the box. It was really tasty and really hit the spot.

The Mighty Leaf Tea was really good! Much better than traditional iced tea, and we go through a lot of that here in my house. I have already used the coupon that comes attached to the tea! Miracle Noodle was definitely something interesting. I was really hesitant to try them out…but they weren’t that bad. I’m just not used to noodles coming packaged in the way that Miracle Noodle is. The coupon for Noosa Yoghurt I have not been able to redeem yet because it is not carried locally, I would have to drive an hour for it. I am working on getting my local store to carry it so I can give it a try.

Last but not least we have the Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar and the Flax-N-Chia. The Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar has a really nice “bite” to the flavor. I used these to cook with the Miracle Noodle and it had a really great flavor. The Flax-N-Chia are really great to mix into a home-made smoothie and give it an even better nutritional value…great way to sneak it in on the kids as well.

There was only one thing in the box that I had tried before, so I was really pleased to see a nice array of things that I had never tried, or heard of before. Bestowed is a great way to learn about lots of fun, new, healthy products that are out there.

Here’s how the value of the box breaks down:
Miracle Noodle – $3.29
Cascadian Farms Granola Bar – $1.03
Mighty Leaf Tea – $4.69 plus $1.50 coupon
Lundberg Rice Chips – $ 1.24
Noosa Yoghurt coupon – $3.00
Sea Snax – $1.49
Flax-N-Chia – $1.12 for 1 so $2.24 for both
Reboot – $13.99
Nakano Seasoned Rice Vinegar – $3.57

Total value of the box is $36.04! Considering that the most you’ll pay for a Bestowed box is $19 this is a really great deal. Make sure you sign up quickly for their September box…the monthly boxes ship out on the 15th of every month.

Kona Kase Subscription Box Review

Kona Kase is a monthly subscription box where you pay only $15 a month to get a box full of different nutritional goodies to try out. I was really excited when I opened my box. There were lots of new, yummy looking things that I had not seen before. I had only heard of 3 of the products in my box but had never tried them, so I was really eager to try them out since all of them were new to me.

Everything in the box tasted REALLY good. It would be really hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to pick one, it would be the Krave Jerky. It had just the right amount of spices, and was not too soft and not too tough. The Greenola had an interesting taste, but not bad, just new (made with kale and all kinds of interesting things). The Larabar tasted just like an apple pie…I want more! Justin’s Almond Butter is simply devine. I put mine on a buttermilk waffle and it was a really great pairing. The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Quest Bar was super good. Not chalky like other protien bars and gave me a little energy kick from the protien-packed goodness. My husband had the Rise Bar before a run, he said it was good and made him feel great. Last, but not least the Bio Trust Protein Cookie. It is all natural and was a nice little treat. I would like just a few more raisins in the cookie, but other than that it was great.

Here’s how the value of the box breaks down:
Greenola – $1.71
Larabar – $1.79
Bio Trust – $2.50
Rise Bar – $2.69
Quest Protein Bar – $2.08
Justin’s Almond Butter – $0.80
Krave Jerky – $4.50
Total Value – $16.67! That’s more than the cost of the box, so definitely not a bad deal. (The card included showed that the box should’ve had San Franola Granola, but the Larabar was a replacement, I’m guessing they ran out of San Franola. It would’ve only added around $0.30 value to the box, so an even substitution and the Larabar was yummy so no complaints there!)

If you love trying out new and different nutritional things, make sure you give Kona Kase a try. They have discounts for multiple months, and shipping is always free.

Color Me Monthly is a monthly subscription box that offers you an awesome nail polish color that’s always in season and in style for $7 a month! Color Me Monthly nailpolish is always non-toxic and carcinogen-free. You don’t have to pay any additional shipping on the box which is awesome…and the colors are goregous!

I received "Summer Tryst" in my box and I love it! It is a beautiful shade of purple and looks great on my nails. The color looks wonderful played up with some of my rhinestones or looks amazing all by itself as well. The color went on really well and covered very evenly. So far it has lasted through doing dishes, and that's more than I can say about my typical nailpolish. If you love having your nails painted to go with the latest trends, there's no way you can go wrong with Color Me Monthly!

From The Lab Subscription Box Review

from the lab unopened

From The Lab is a montly subscription box that usually runs $29.95 a month, with a special running right now that makes it $19.95! Every month you will receive up to 3 unique and innovative beauty selections. What I love about this box compared to most is that you will receive full size one month supplies, not small samples or trial items.

from the lab open box

I received the August box which contains a really large bottle of Body Serum No. 580. This stuff smells absolutely amazing! I love products that have a strong, long lasting fragrance that is light at the same time (yes, I’m picky!). Body Serum No. 580 is something with a scent that you’ll love right off the bat. All day long I could still smell the Body Serum and my skin felt amazing. My usually dry skin was soft, silky, smooth, and glowing all day long. There are quite a few things that make Body Serum No. 580 special. I can’t tell if it’s the Opunita ficus-indica extract, Swiss thermal water, Salicornia extract, B3, or Olive Oil Ester but whatever it is, is simply amazing.

from the lab body serum

When you’re all out of a product you received in your monthly box, if you want to buy more you do have the option to do so through From The Lab’s website, “while supplies last”. From The Lab is an invitation only subscription box, but you can request an invite right on their home page. This is definitely a box I will be recomending to my beauty supply addict friends!
